Last week I took the trolley from San Diego to the Mexican border and walked across the world’s busiest border crossing to the city of Tijuana.
Although I had been to Canada and several countries in Europe, the Caribbean, and Central America, this was my first visit to Mexico.
There’s a lot of talk lately about how dangerous it is to visit Mexico, and I’m sure that’s true in some parts of the country, but in Tijuana I felt about as safe as anywhere else.
Read on for the full story (at least what I can remember) of what happened in Tijuana. (Hint: it involves tequila, beer, some things you can’t legally smoke in the USA, lots of Mexican food, and some shady characters.)
